Die Orthopädie (v. griech. ὀρϑός „aufrecht“ und παιδεύειν „erziehen“) befasst sich mit der Entstehung, Verhütung, Erkennung und Behandlung angeborener oder erworbener Form- oder Funktionsfehler des Stütz- und Bewegungsapparat, also der Knochen, Gelenke, Muskeln und Sehnen, sowie mit der Rehabilitation des Patienten.
